Volunteers are the lifeblood of food banks. Will you join us in our mission to fight hunger and support those in need? By volunteering your time, you can help us provide essential food and resources to our community.

As a volunteer, your unique skills and abilities could be precisely what we require to make a difference in the lives of those we serve. Whether you have a few hours to spare or want to commit regularly, your contribution makes a significant difference. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are different ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference in the life of someone in crisis.

Current Opportunities

 

Foodbank Session – Session Volunteer

Help make a difference — one session at a time.

We’re looking for caring, reliable volunteers to support our foodbank sessions across Wrexham. By giving just couple of hours of your time, you can offer practical help and a warm welcome to people in crisis.

 

We currently need support on:

  • Thursday afternoons (1:00 PM – 2:30 PM)
  • Friday mornings (11:00 AM – 12:30 PM)

We ask for a regular commitment to at least one session per week.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • As a session volunteer, you’ll:
  • Welcome clients and help them feel comfortable
  • Prepare and distribute emergency food parcels
  • Offer a listening ear and signpost to other support
  • Make refreshments and help keep the space tidy
  • Work alongside a supportive team and under a session leader’s guidance

Foodbank Session – Signposter Volunteer

Are you a great listener who enjoys connecting with people? We’re currently looking for Signposter volunteers to come join our teams at food bank session.

Two vacancies are currently available:

  •  Thursday Afternoon (1PM – 2:30PM)
  • Friday Mid Morning (11AM – 12:30PM)
  • Friday Afternoon (2PM – 3:30PM)

As a signposter, you will sit with food bank visitors, help them feel welcome and gently explore any extra support they need beyond emergency food, such as debt, housing services or community groups. Community Money Advise – Money Mentors

Can you help?  If you are interested in helping people with difficulty in managing their money, we are looking for new Money Mentors to join the team in Wrexham. Full training is given, we ask for a commitment of half of a day a week (Monday – Thursday). The main role of the Money Mentors is to meet the client and liaise with the central team, who provide the debt advice.

About CMA: Connect Wrexham (Community Money Advice) is here to help those whose lives are impacted by personal debt. We offer free help and support to find sustainable solutions which best meet each person’s individual needs. Our fully trained Money Mentors meet clients and spend as much time as is necessary to access appropriate debt advice and provide teaching on how to budget effectively. The office is open Mondays on Rhosddu Industrial Estate and Thursdays in the centre of Wrexham.
