Volunteers Afternoon Tea

6th June 2018

It was a pleasure to host an afternoon tea for our volunteers on June 4th 2018. Here is a message from Sally Ellinson after the event:

Dear Volunteers

Thank you to all who came to the Afternoon Tea on Monday, I hope you had a great time.

For those of you who couldn’t make it – please do make sure you receive a ‘goody bag’, there is one for everybody. They contain a few items as tokens of appreciation for your time and effort. Thanks a ‘latte’, you’re so ‘sweet’, thank you for your committ-‘mint’, and a reminder of Isaiah 58 verse 10 which says ‘if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your ‘light’ will rise in the darkness’.
There were representatives there on Monday from all the Foodbank areas which was good – Warehouse Tuesday Team, Warehouse Friday Team, Caia Park Team, Gwersyllt Team, Cefn Mawr Team, Rhosddu Monday Team, Rhosddu Wednesday Team, Rhosddu Friday Team, Supermarket Collections, Transport, Admin, Fundraising, Management and Trustees!
The inspiring talk by the CEO of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation that I mentioned can be viewed here:

Please let me know if you are interested in doing the training to help lead the ‘Eat Well Spend Less’ course as we could do with a few more people on the team. It is a basic cooking and money management course, run over six sessions (3 hours a week), at various locations. I hope to run the training later in June or beginning of July. There is no pressure to be involved so if you would like to do the training just to find out about it that is fine!
