ASDA collaboration with Trussell Trust & Fairshare

6th June 2018

At this years National Foodbank Conference, held on May 17th in Dudley, more details of the ASDA collaboration were announced. In monetary terms this equates to £9 million pounds over 3 years to ensure sustainability of Foodbanks as the demand for food and other support increases. All Foodbanks will be eligible to apply for grants to support their efforts. ASDA stores will have trolleys for collection of food on a regular basis mirroring Tesco and Sainsburys. Fresh  food will be available to Foodbanks through the Fairshare network and this is an area that will require careful planning into the logistics of storage and distribution.

All in all a very positive way forward and welcome news.
